Call A Pet Beginner Guide: The Core Loop, Step by Step
A beginner's walkthrough of the Call A Pet core loop: steal an egg from a guarded nest, place it in your base to hatch, earn automatic cash from placed pets, then ride, train and repeat.
Call A Pet runs on one repeatable engine: sneak into the wild, steal an egg from a guarded nest, carry it home, place it in your base to hatch, and put the pet to work. Every pet you place earns cash for you automatically — even while you're out stealing the next egg. This Call A Pet beginner guide walks your first run step by step, then shows how riding, training, daily rewards and the pet Index stack on top of that cycle.

What to do first
Your first objective needs no menus, purchases or codes — it's a heist:
- Leave your safe zone and sneak into the wild. Eggs wait in guarded nests outside your safe area.
- Pick a zone and find a guarded nest. The game has five egg zones — Forest, Savannah, Desert, Snow and Volcano.
- Grab the egg while avoiding the boss that guards the nest.
- Carry the egg back to your safe zone.
- Place your egg in your base to hatch it. That's the actual in-game prompt — the egg stage finishes at your base, not at the nest, and the placed pet starts earning on the spot.
That single trip — wild, nest, home — is the whole first objective. Everything else in the game is this same cycle with more speed, more zones and better pets.
How the Call A Pet core loop fits together
Once you've run the cycle once, it helps to know what each part is for:
- The five zones are the egg supply. Forest, Savannah, Desert, Snow and Volcano all hold eggs to steal, so there is always a next target. The game's description lists them side by side without unlock requirements or a set order, so work with whichever zone you can reach.
- Bosses and the night are the friction. Every nest is guarded, and the developer's own tip is to watch out for the night and not get caught carrying an egg. Plan the trip home, not just the grab.
- Your base is where eggs become pets. Carrying the egg back to your safe zone and placing it in your base is the completing action — the theft alone doesn't count until the egg is home.
- Placed pets are your income. Every pet you place earns money for you, even while you explore — the earning starts at placement and keeps running while you're out on the next raid.
- Riding and treadmills are your upgrades. Call your pet and ride it across the map to run faster and jump higher, and train on treadmills to boost your speed.
- The loop refuels itself. Eggs stay available to steal in all five zones, and logging in every day grants free cash and eggs — exactly the two resources the cycle consumes.
Your first egg: hazards that matter
Three warnings come straight from the game itself. First, the boss guarding the nest — it's the obstacle between you and the egg. Second, the night — the description calls it out as a hazard alongside the bosses. Third, getting caught mid-carry — once you have the egg, the job is to get it home, and the game explicitly tells you not to get caught carrying it. None of the three changes the route: sneak in, grab the egg, and ride home carefully.
If you want a deeper dive on any stage, see the egg stealing guide for the raid itself, the egg hatching guide for what happens at your base, or the night guide for the after-dark hazard.
Turning pets into progression
Your first placed pet is milestone one — it's your first income source, and the payout is automatic rather than something you claim from an NPC. Each completed cycle adds another earner to your base, so repetition is the growth engine; our cash guide covers the money side in more detail.
Speed is the other half of progression. Call your pet and ride it to cross the map faster and jump higher, and use treadmills to train that speed up. One gameplay video from the game's early days also caught pets gaining some speed passively as they ran — but faster when the player actively trained them — so treat treadmill training as the deliberate way to build speed. The faster you are, the deeper into the boss-guarded zones you can push and the safer the carry home; the movement guide breaks down riding and training further.
What to do after the first cycle
Once the loop is running, the game gives you a short list of concrete early goals:
| Goal | What it asks | What it pays |
|---|---|---|
| Daily rewards | Log in every day | Free cash and eggs |
| Fill the Index | Discover every pet in a zone | A permanent income boost |
| Golden and Rainbow pets | Hatch them | Huge income bonuses |
Filling the Index is the clearest "what next" checklist for a beginner: it tells you exactly which pets to hunt next in a zone you can already reach, and each zone's completed Index feeds the permanent boost — the pet index page tracks the full roster. Above the ordinary pets sit the legendary Secret pets — Cerberus, Anubis and Yeti — the long-horizon hunt once your zone routine is working.
Codes, when the developers share them, are another way to top up — the current Call A Pet codes are kept on the codes page.
