Call A Pet Egg Stealing Guide: Steal an Egg and Bring It Home Safely

How to steal an egg in Call A Pet and bring it back without losing the run: where the guarded nests are, what can end a carry, and how to place your egg in your base to hatch it.

You steal an egg in Call A Pet by entering one of the five wild zones — Forest, Savannah, Desert, Snow or Volcano — grabbing an egg from a nest guarded by a boss, and carrying it back to your safe zone, where the game prompts you to place it in your base to hatch. The run is lost if you get caught carrying the egg. The night and the zone bosses are the hazards that catch you, and movement speed is your main way out of trouble.

The egg run in one minute

  1. Train your speed before you go. In a live session, the host sent players to grab eggs with one instruction: "Train your speed right now."
  2. Pick a zone and find a nest. Eggs sit in guarded nests across five zones: Forest, Savannah, Desert, Snow and Volcano.
  3. Grab the egg. The official pitch is to "sneak into the wild, steal eggs from guarded nests."
  4. Carry it back. Watch out for the night and the bosses, and don't get caught carrying the egg.
  5. Place it in your base. Back in the safe zone, the game tells you to "Place your egg in your base" — the egg then hatches there.

Prep: train your speed before you leave

Before an egg grab, the one piece of preparation shown in live play is speed training. The session host told players to train speed right before sending them in, and pointed out that while pets gain speed as a kind of passive, the character itself runs faster when you're the one moving. Since a carried egg makes you a target for a chase, that speed is what buys you the distance to get home. The session took place during the game's beta, so treat the exact chase behavior as something updates can change — but the advice to be fast before you grab holds as the practical counter to being caught.

Where eggs are: five zones, guarded nests

Call A Pet's official description is explicit about the map: "Grab eggs from 5 zones: Forest, Savannah, Desert, Snow and Volcano. Beware of the bosses guarding them." Every zone's eggs sit in nests, and every nest has a boss watching it — so the same guard that threatens your approach also threatens your escape. If you're still deciding where to run, our Call A Pet zones guide covers the map area by area.

Taking the egg

The take is a grab: you get into the nest's area, take an egg, and you're carrying it. The exact grab input isn't documented, but live play shows the action for what it is — a quick take from the nest, not a puzzle. "Sneak" is the game's own framing for how you approach: get in without drawing the boss's attention. No separate stealth button or detection system is documented, so don't wait for one — the sneak is simply how you move on the way in.

Carrying it home: what can end the run

The official warning lists the dangers in one line: "Watch out for the night and the bosses, and don't get caught carrying an egg!"

  • The night. The game names the night as a hazard of an egg run. It doesn't document what the night changes mechanically, so the safe plan is to do your carry before it, not during it.
  • The bosses. They guard the eggs in all five zones, which means they're a threat on the way out as well as the way in. Chases are real: in the live session, a carrier was actively run down mid-carry while others shouted that he was being chased.
  • Getting caught. This is the stated failure condition of a run — the game's own words make a caught carry the thing to avoid. What exactly happens after you're caught (whether the egg drops, resets or something else) isn't spelled out, so the only safe plan is to not be caught.

Speed is your answer to all three: train it before the run and keep moving as your character on the way home. If movement itself is the question, our Call A Pet movement guide has more on getting around the map.

Finish the run: place your egg in your base

The loop ends at home. The official description closes it with "Carry the egg back to your safe zone and hatch it," and live footage confirms the final interaction: as a player delivers a carried egg, the game tells them to "Place your egg in your base." So finishing is an explicit placement at your base inside the safe zone — not an automatic hatch the moment you cross the line. The placement prompt appears in-game during the delivery, so watch for it as you arrive.

Once the egg is placed in your base, you're on the other half of the loop: hatching it. Our Call A Pet egg hatching guide picks up from there.
